Heart-Centered
Our practice is Scientifically Heart-Centered . That means we self-consciously try to work from a mindset of compassion and empathy with all of our clients. But we also mean it literally. During hypnotism sessions your physical heart is electronically monitored to determine what works for you. During Reiki sessions, Lindsay will pay special attention to your heart energy.
In addition to showing you how to use your self-hypnotic state for personal improvement, Scot uses emWave® technology developed by the HeartMath® Institute in Boulder Creek, California. An electronic sensor from a computer will be attached to your hand if you are a hypnotism client. The sensor monitors the microelectronic activity of your heart. This gives him information about how your response to life impacts your physiology and how well you are learning to self-regulate your internal life and feelings.
The goal of this technology is to help you achieve physiological “coherence,” a state where your nervous, cardiovascular, hormonal and immune systems work together efficiently and harmoniously. The greater the degree of coherence the more resilient you become to stress and the better you will function in the physical and emotional domains. Learning emotional self-regulation in this way can enhance your mental and spiritual well-being, health and healing, personal effectiveness and intellectual functioning.
Heart Rate Variability (HRV), which is at the core of research the HeartMath Institute conducts, is a measure of the naturally occurring beat-to-beat changes in heart rate/heart rhythms. It serves as a critical method for gauging human health and resiliency. Physical activity, thoughts and emotions can all affect heart rate variability.
Scot coaches his clients to use a number of heart-focused techniques they can do quickly, anytime, anywhere with eyes open while "on the go." These techniques, or HeartMath Tools, can help one manage life more effectively and many of his clients enjoy using them. If you are being seen for hypnotic services, Scot may provide you with a reference booklet titled Building Personal Resilience™: HeartMath Skills for Personal Effectiveness that explains these techniques to you. Lindsay has her own approach adapted for Reiki and studies at Yale have demonstrated that Reiki can direclty affect Heart Rate Variability in a positive way.
The professionals at the HeartMath Institute go a step farther and theorize that the heart is a privileged organ in the human body that encodes a kind of intelligence. As a member of the Heartmath Institute and a HeartMath® Certified Coach We subscribe to this philosophy.
